/how-we-review
How we review — and why you can trust the picks.
Every drop, comparison, and buyer's guide on Predrop is written by one person who actually uses these tools — not a content model, not a freelancer paid per word. Here's exactly how a tool earns a spot, how we verify it, and the rules we won't break.
Who reviews
Every word is written by Stephen, Predrop's founder & curator. Solo builder with 10+ years across AI tooling, dev infrastructure, and indie SaaS. Reads 100+ AI launches a week and writes every Predrop review by hand — no AI-generated copy, every affiliate relationship disclosed inline.
There is no anonymous review team and no outsourced copy. If a review has an opinion, it's a person's opinion, and the byline on every article links back here.
How a tool earns a spot
We scan Product Hunt, Dealify, DealMirror, PitchGround, Hacker News, founder DMs, and the corners of X where builders actually post. From that pile, very few make it through. The bar:
- It has to ship something we'd use ourselves — if we can't use it today, it doesn't run.
- The pricing has to be honest — no "lifetime" that quietly caps usage to a teaser tier without saying so.
- The team has to be reachable, so we can verify the deal terms before we publish them.
- There has to be a real reason to look now — a launch window, a deadline, or a redemption cap.
How we verify a deal
Prices, tiers, refund windows, and redemption deadlines are read off the marketplace listing at the time we publish and re-stated in plain language. Where a claim is the vendor's ("22,000 templates," "works in every inbox"), we say so and grant it provisionally rather than presenting it as our own finding.
Lifetime-deal terms change and deals get pulled without notice. When a deal expires we keep the post up as a record and mark it expired rather than quietly deleting it.
Independence — the rules we won't break
- Commission never decides a feature. If a non-affiliate tool is the right pick, it runs and the link is a normal URL. We flag those as editorial-only on the page.
- No AI-generated reviews.Models don't write our opinions. We use the tools and write what we found.
- Gotchas are surfaced, not buried. Every review has a "watch out for" section, because the catch is the part you actually need.
- No hidden sponsorships. Anything paid for is labelled in the same place every time.
Affiliate disclosure
Most picks link out through /go/[slug] — an affiliate redirect. If you buy through it, Predrop may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. It's how the newsletter stays free. Every page that carries an affiliate link discloses it inline, not just in a footer.
Corrections
Get something wrong and we fix it. If a price, tier, or claim is out of date, email hi@predrop.ai and it gets corrected — replies go straight to Stephen.
