The pitch: nobody remembers to start the timer. Backlsh skips the timer entirely — it runs in the background, captures active hours, idle periods, and which apps and sites the work happened in, and turns that into a timesheet you review rather than reconstruct. On top of the raw capture it adds project/task tracking, reports, KPIs and goals, and AI "productivity insights." The vendor's own pricing page runs a promotional monthly rate; the Dealify listing is the pay-once version.

Where this earns its money: if you bill hourly, forgotten time is unbilled time. Agencies and freelancers routinely lose real hours to reconstructing Tuesday from memory, and per-seat trackers like Toggl ($9/user/mo) and Harvest ($11/user/mo) charge monthly forever for the privilege of remembering for you.

Why we picked it

• Automatic capture is genuinely different from a timer. Manual tracking fails at the exact moment you're busiest. A background record you correct afterward is the version people actually keep using in month three.
• New territory for the feed — we've covered invoicing, CRM, and meetings; the hours that feed the invoice were the missing piece.
• The lifetime math is clean here. Per-seat monthly pricing is what makes tracking expensive for small teams; a one-time price inverts that, especially if the tier covers multiple people.

Watch out for

• Be honest with yourself about which tool you're buying. Tracking your own hours to bill accurately and monitoring your staff's app usage are different products wearing one name. The second one is employee monitoring, and it carries costs the sales page won't list: surveillance tends to erode trust faster than it raises output, and "active minutes" is not the same measurement as "valuable work."
• Monitoring employees has legal strings. Many jurisdictions require you to notify people that they're being monitored — several US states mandate written notice, and GDPR treats it as processing that needs a lawful basis and disclosure. That obligation is yours, not the vendor's. If you deploy this to a team, tell them first, in writing.
• Verify the seat count and platform before buying. Automatic capture means a desktop agent — confirm on the live Dealify page which OSes are covered, how many members your tier includes, and whether the AI insights are included or a separate tier. Also note the product is listed on more than one deal marketplace, so compare terms.
